Lee Jung Jae continues to make headlines as ‘Squid Game’ continues to drawn in love and support from audiences around the globe. Now, the ensembles international success is being recognized at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

Not so long ago, Netflix released the original series ‘Squid Game’ in September of 2021, and would never expect the catapulting success the hit show generated in just a month. With the success spilling over into this new year, lead actor Lee Jung Jae continues to find international recognition as he has become a brand ambassador for Gucci, had various appearances on American broadcasts such as ‘The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon’ and more.

Now, the multi-talented actor has been nominated for one of the most prestigious awards in the entertainment industry. The 28th SAG Awards, which is the only televised awards ceremony to exclusively honor performers with 13 awards for the outstanding performances of the year in film and television, announced that Lee Jung Jae and the ‘Squid Game’ ensemble have been nominated.

“’Squid Game’ is nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series, making the show the first non-English language TV series ever to be nominated for an award. Additionally, Jung Ho Yeon is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, while Lee Jung Jae has received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series.” 

Lee Jung Jae immediately took to his Instagram to express his gratitude to the international fans who helped propel his success.

In an interviw with JTBC, Lee Jung Jae revealed his thoughts saying, “This is such an honor. These are the kind of awards that I also only ever heard about through the news, so this is very meaningful, and I’m extremely happy. The actors and ensemble of ‘Squid Game’ as well as Jung Ho Yeon were nominated. Even our action team was nominated so you could say that all our actors were nominated, which means this has to be a happy event. I want to receive the Best Ensemble Award. The Best Ensemble Award is as meaningful as the Best Picture Award or Director Award, so I really want to receive it.”

Lee Jung Jae is currently preparing for a trip to Milan for Milan 2022 Fashion Week and is expected to be decked out in only the best luxury designs for his first fashion show appearance in 2022. Perhaps we can expect an even more astonishing outfit for his appearance at the SAG Awards?
